Spring is (finally!) in the air and I have been using the extra hours of daylight to be whiz through books faster than Indigo can stock 'em.
I love to grab my book du jour, and a glass of wine, and read in our back sunroom until it's too dark to see......at which point I switch locations and read in bed until my eyes cross.
I love when books are so good you can't put them down. When you ignore everyone around you just so you can finish one more page and you're sad to reach the end.
I have always been a bit book addicted.
I remember reading Christopher Pike novels until 3 in the morning as a pre-teen.
One summer, babysitting my cousins, I found a stash of Harlequins...and read the whole box. Very appropriate reading, no?
I also read a lot of great books: A Wrinkle in Time, The Giver, Fall on Your Knees and I think I nearly wore out the pages of Margaret Atwood's Wilderness Tips in high school.
And then there was the summer I went camping with a friend and her family and I read the entire time. Literally.
They went shopping, I read in the van.
They went biking, I read in the trailer.
They had a campfire, I read by the fire.
Thankfully, we're still friends......
Last week I abandoned my family for two days because of this book:
Un-put-down-able.
Also on my nightstand, just waiting to be cracked:
{I'm actually already reading Come Thou Tortoise, which is hilarious and the tortoise's name is Winnifred!}
You know, after Winnie was born I lost my obsessive love for books. I read but it was sporadic and I felt disconnected. Not super interested in reading at all.
I was actually worried that *I'd lost that love and feelin'* for books permanently but 6 months ago, it came back. Now I have some catching up to do......
What are you reading? Recommendations?
Books come and go. The trick is to let the good ones hang around.
ReplyDeleteI just finished Where'd you go Bernadette a couple of nights a ago! I loved it! My favourite part was the the description of the 20 mile house. So wonderful. I gave it to Rachel just yesterday. My next novel is the family fang. I'll let you know if it's good.
ReplyDeleteI read Parenting from the Inside Out ...and from what I remember it was very insightful. One of my problems now is retaining the information and actually absorbing it with an almost three year old lovingly distracting me. Right now I'm reading What's Eating Your Child by Kelly Dorfman, maybe you've already read it.
