I love to fill our November and December days with friends and family and LOTS of projects....but every year, around this time, I start to cross things off my list.
Things I dreamt up in September.
Things that just can't possibly get done.
Things that are pulling us away from each other and a good night's sleep and the energy to make something healthy to eat.
Things that will happily wait until next year....
What I'm Giving Up
1. A Clean House. Enough said?
2. Our Annual Cookie Party. I'm so sad, but it was the right choice. There just aren't enough days....
3. A Few Other Parties. I love holiday parties and we've been to so many wonderful events but I have a lingering cold that's screaming "stay home! stay home!" and, once in awhile. I listen.
4. Gift Projects. I'm ditching a couple of projects because they didn't turn out the first time and I can't bear to do them again and a couple of "unnecessaries". I typically get really over-excited and plan to make about 100 extra gifts than we actually need, so now, when it's time to relax I stop "making". I sit down. I drink tea.
5. Unrealistic Expectations. Of myself and others. This year is all about peace and acceptance, at least that's the intention.
What I'm Definitely Not Giving Up
1. Cross Stitching by the fire. Picking away at a few final details.....
2. Reading holiday stories under the tree. Have you read Stick Man??
3. Classic Holiday Movies.
4. Exercise. I actually increased the amount of exercise I've been doing. Michelle's classes are saving me!
5. Egg Nog and Wine and Peppermint Bark and time set aside to read the most amazing book. The ultimate ME time.
What are you giving up this season?
Come on, you know you need to!!!
