Can We Bring Back the Dinner Party?

With all of the wonderful holiday parties we've been attending, I've gotten to thinking about my favorite sort of party. Is it the cocktail party? The open house? The good ole east-coast kitchen party??

I think that my favorite party of all HAS to be the dinner party.
Time to sit. Time to enjoy great food. Time to really chat with others at the table.

For me, the idea of a dinner party immediately evokes memories from my parents kitchen in the 80s.
The smell of coq au vin.
The big box of Hochtaler on the counter......

Recently, a friend of mine has been trying to organize a Progressive Dinner Party, with a holiday twist.
We would eat a bit at one house, carol to the next, eat a bit, drink a bit, carol to the next house, eat a bit, drink a bit, carol, etc.
So much fun!

I would love to see the re-emergence of the dinner party.
I need a group of friends who want to take turns....once a month we have dinner together, each time changing the host.
