We were out for a long walk and, as usual, Pippa fell fast asleep just as we were getting home.
I decided to leave her in the stroller, in the backyard to finish her nap.
Once, on Oprah, I watched a story about how Danish people are the happiest and healthiest people in the world. On the show, they all left their babies to nap outdoors, in strollers, on balconies or in backyards. They swear the kids sleep better in the cool fresh air.
Ever since that show, I've left my kids outdoors to sleep at the end of long walks/bike rides, etc. and they really do seem to sleep better.
Pippa was out there for over an hour!
But sometimes I feel guilty. Does anyone else leave their kids outdoors to nap?
Speaking of Oprah...
Did you see that her Favorite Things list has been revealed?
She has narrowed the list down to a mere 49 items.....you can check out the full list HERE.
Here's a sneak peek at 5 of Oprah's favs for 2012:
from ABC
1. Julep Nail Polish Set
These 12 gorgeous toxin-free nail polishes were all hand-curated by Winfrey and come in this limited-edition, white lacquer box that makes a fun gift for the holidays. Exclusively for O, The Oprah Magazine, the 12 nail polishes are originally $168, but are now $84 w/code OPRAH on julep.com.
2. Yedi Housewares Sauce Trays
If you like to entertain, this set of four porcelain bowls are great for dipping sauces, candies, nuts — you name it. They come with a matching tray and the bright colors work for any occasion. At only $20, they are a true value and you can find them at your local Macy’s.
3. Bougainvillea Bracelets
Oprah fell in love with these bangles. The cuff bracelets are made with water buffalo bone and semi-precious stones and come in a range of colors. The bracelets are originally $39, but are available for $31 each w/code OPRAH at bouganvilleaboutique.com.
4. Carousel Cakes Blue Velvet Cake
Carousel Cakes have been around since 1965, but Winfrey’s staffers “fell hard” for this blue velvet version when sampling items for this year’s “Favorite Things” list. It has cream cheese icing, sugar snowflakes and pairs perfectly with a cup of coffee or a glass of champagne. Originally $42, you can have one for $34 w/code OPRAH on carouselcakes.com.
5. Corkcicle
The staff at O, The Oprah Magazine, went gaga for this gadget, the “corkcicle,” designed to keep wine chilled. Just pull the “corkcicle” out of the freezer and insert into any bottle of wine that needs to stay cool. At $25, it’s a great gift for wine lovers in your life. Available at corkcicle.com.
Here is my personal favorite:
Michael Kors Glam Studded High Tops
Chic Sneaks
"Heels are not my friend. So imagine my delight when I came across these ultracomfortable, metallic high-tops while shopping at Michael Kors's flagship store in Manhattan."—Oprah
You get shiny high tops! and You get shiny high tops! and You get shiny high tops!
You can hear it, can't you.....
I have kept Ryker outside sleeping MANY a time after a walk or bike-ride. I often pull up a chair and a book and sit there and relax next to him! (Our backyard is a bit too exposed to just leave a kid alone out there). I fully agree that fresh air makes people happier and sleep better!
ReplyDeleteWe have a hardcore outdoor napper! I park her on the patio or, in the summertime, in the shade and peek out at her from time to time. Our wintertime temperature cutoff is -10.
