We finished a project.
It a small one but it's something.
When we bought this house it had a nice front door. Old. Wood. Perfectly good condition.
But, in true Jill-Jamie fashion, we decided we would prefer the old, decrepit back door as a front door. Also wood, beautiful shape and great windows. Terrible condition.
So, on top of the million & one things that aren't done around here we had a door to re-finish. To start with, it took Jamie an entire day just the hang the wonky old thing and change the lock. Then we stripped and sanded. Painted and stained. And finally, we weather-proofed.
The end product is spectacular......or so we like to think.
There is something particularly satisfying about finishing the front door. The first thing to greet us and our guests, the last thing we look at before we leave the house and, the focal point, really, of the entire house.
For days I couldn't stop staring at it. So beautiful and so DONE. There are few things that fall into both categories in this house. We often hear "When are you guys going to finish that thing??" or "Is the house done??" and we hang our heads..."No, but it gets better everyday!" we repeat over and over again. We get tired of the mess. Tired of the chaos. Of having nothing done.
....and then we look at our front door, and smile, a breathe a sigh of relief because, no matter how long it takes or how frustrating it is....the house is getting finished.
Now, to start the trim!
Have a wonderful, productive, weekend everyone!
Gorgeous!
