10 other things on the list of "stuff for which I am grateful":
1. Our Family: We spent the weekend with family. Brothers, sisters, cousins, in-laws. We've had photo shoots and birthdays and dinners and we're still boppin'. I'm so thankful we can have as much fun as we do with those closest to us!
2. Our Mixed-up, Made-up, Make-shift Family: Most of my fam is spread out across the country, and so it's rare that we're all together for a holiday. With that in mind I've slowly started to "make" an extended family for my family. Year after year, we accumulate (and cherish!) amazing friends that surround us, support us and *show up* for us over and over again.
3. Front Teeth that are FINALLY here! Thank goodness. They were so tough......
4. Lessons Learned: My good friend T says "You will repeat lessons until they are learned". I'm tired of making the same mistakes, falling into the same traps and thankful to be finally paying attention to the lesson. It's time to move on!
5. Trees Outside the Window: In the middle of a city it's nice to be surrounded by trees. This is our first fall with a second storey (!) and so it's the first time we've gotten to see the leaves turn from way up here. Those leaves! Changing color right before our eyes: in the bathtub, on the stairs and as we drift off to sleep.
6. A Good Book: It's not just a good story, it's a book that's making me think. It's changing my mind, my views and my approach to life and work. It's inspiring and energizing and motivating.
7. Watching Sisters Become Sisters: Everyday getting closer.....finding common ground and companionship and things to argue over and then reasons to make-up.
8. Time to Play: We are the midst of a very special, very short time. I'm seven months post-partum, enjoying a slower schedule and J is on paternity leave. Everyday, we're together.....as we work, parent and play. Soon he'll be running his own business, the girls will grow and go to school and I'll get back to my stuff.....but for now I'm thankful that we're together, finding time to play.
9. Cool Floors and Warm Fireplaces: The perfect accompaniment to the warm sunny days? Cool mornings and evenings.....I love to feel the cold marble tiles under my feet in the morning and cosy up beside the fire at night. I love it.
10. Gratitude: I'm grateful that I'm grateful.....for it seems to me that it's not the having that makes life so amazing, it's the appreciating!
