Ce Que C'est Magnifique!

An afternoon of antiquing......and though I could have filled our truck, I came home with only 2 pieces.

I sorted through chairs and wood block art and original school houselights and 30 gallon crocks and then settled on these two very sweet pieces.....not a bad afternoon.

A Jenny Lind Bed.

Jenny Lind was a famous Swedish-born opera singer in the 50s. She travelled to the states where her popularity grew and she became known as the "Swedish Nightingale". Due to her popularity, objects began being named after the famous singer....including these beds!

Here's mine. It came with a head board, foot board and the original sides. I've never been partial to foot boards, and seeing as this foot board is exactly the same size as the headboard, I think we're going to divide them up so that we have TWO bed frames (with a little work on Jamie's part!). Two beds for the price of one!

Here's how it could look, modernized with a coat of paint. though I am, for some reason (I'm usually the queen of painted furniture), partial to keeping the frames wood. We'll see?

And then I picked up this 1920's print, because I couldn't resist. The caption reads "Ce que c'est pratique!"

But I'm thinking this pic is more magnifique than pratique! I love it.

The bedrooms were supposed to be the last rooms we tackled in this house....but I'm feeling inspired. I think they might get bumped up the list!

Happy (wet! again!) Tuesday.
