This year I went quite practical, I think.
Homemade Vanilla
Vodka + Split Vanilla Beans. That's it.
Let it sit for a few months, shaking every so often.
The key is to use LOTS of vanilla beans so you end up with vanilla extract, not just vanilla flavoured vodka! I used 8 beans per 8oz jar.
**Totally Awesome Fact: When the vanilla gets low, you can top up with more vodka, let it sit a few weeks and your vanilla stash is restored!
2013 Calendars, sketches by Moi.
I made quick, simplified sketches from photographs I found in magazines. Then I pulled them into Photoshop, learned how to use Photoshop, cleaned them up and made them calendars.
I gifted them in beautiful glassine bags with bull dog clips (magnetic and regular) for hanging.
Fun right?!
Last but not least, Friday's post will include some bits and bobs and gift add-ons.
Happy Hump Day Folks!
Love this idea! I was worried that vanilla making would be a lot harder, but you proved me wrong :) Love following you!!
ReplyDeleteWow awesome! Love your calendars!
ReplyDeleteLook at you, all high on vanilla and Photoshop. I like your drawings! All you really need in Photoshop is cropping, levels, burning, dodging and some general lasso gimmickry -- don't worry about the filters.
ReplyDeleteDarryl, I didn't gift you a calendar because I was too embarrassed about my drawings (plus I know you make really cool calendars yourself!)....so thanks! Next year??
