The Final Frontier.
Homemade, eco-friendly dishwashing detergent was the last of the green cleaning uncharted territory in our home.
I'm not sure why, but the idea of making my own dishwashing detergent scared me?
I've resisted for years, certain that my dishwasher would blow up.
A few weeks ago, I finally gave in. I made this recipe:
Dishwasher Detergent
1 Cup Borax
1 Cup Washing Soda
1 tsp Salt
Umm....simple. No?
I tripled the recipe, just because, and I added some vinegar to the dishwasher as a rinse aid.
The first week, things looked promising. Dishes were clean and there were no explosions. But, but, but, every now and then our dishes come out cloudy. It's annoying.
We use regular detergent for a wash or two, back to the homemade stuff for a wash or two...repeat. It's working fine for now, but I'd love something a bit more reliable. It's so inexpensive to make the detergent. I love it! I just need something I can count on, you know?
Anyone have a better recipe??
I don't have one jill but want to know if you get offered up a winner!
ReplyDeleteCitric acid is supposed to help with the fogginess. I have tried it in the past and it actually did work quite well.
