Two things actually: last week's homework and this week's project.
I'm talking (again! sorry!) about my art course: pages and paint.
Did I mention I'm a *little bit* in love with this course?
Anyway, last week's homework was to get out and make some time for ourselves. Find inspiration. Have fun. Pretty great homework.
My friend, E, and I decided to do our homework together (so high school!) and we headed downtown for a walk and a catch-up. We found the new, totally fab, Coffeeco on Market Square. It just opened and it is totally gorgeous.
Exactly the way a coffee shop on Market Square should look. Full of design inspiration. We both agreed it was our new favorite place.
{the bottom two pics belong to E.}
So, with homework complete we move into week 2 of the course. The Goal this week:
to create our first full page sketch book composition.
The ingenious Sarah Ahearn Bellemare has designed beautiful videos and prompts and little exercises to get us going.....there is no way to fail at these projects.
I decided to focus my work this week on the thing occupying most of my brain space these days: my work.
I'm changing the direction of my practice right now. Taking big risks, doing new things, trying it all on for size. It's incredibly exciting and fulfilling to see my vision coming to life.
It's also pretty scary.
And stressful.
On more than one occasion in the past month I've found myself caught up in self-doubt and worry. I'm creating fear with my words. Being my own biggest obstacle.
Here was a chance to turn things around. I created (still in progress.....) a full page spread of what I want from this business. What I am trying to create.
Our truest life is when we are in dreams awake.
Henry David Thoreau
With just a couple of hours and some scraps (and sequins!) I turned the fear back into fun. Adventure. Success. I've got my eye back on the prize.
Wishing you an inspirational week, wherever you are!

I LOVE your process. Very inspiring! Wishing you continued success. Thanks for sharing :)
