10 Day Winter Detox.

Winter may not be considered prime time for detoxing, but we’re finding our way out of the season (short days, dipping temperatures, cold & flu season) and most people I meet are ending the season feeling a bit….blah.

There's plenty of time to turn things around before the warm weather arrives!

Here is a simple 10 day detox protocol to put a “spring” back in your step.

10 Day Winter Detox Protocol

1. Consume 2 Tablespoons of Coconut Oil per day, to reduce inflammation, support healthy hormones and improve body composition. Consume small amounts of healthy nuts (almonds, walnuts, brazil nuts) and seeds.

2. Lean protein: Choose beef, buffalo, venison, eggs, elk, fish, seafood, poultry and tempeh (Local and Organic When Possible!)

3. Vegetables: Unlimited low glycemic vegetables; choose broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, celery, eggplant, green beans, lettuce, mushrooms, mustard greens, onions, parsley, peppers, radishes and snow peas; plus 3 tablespoons sauerkraut

4. Fruits—2 whole portions daily maximum. Choose from 1 apple, ½ cup applesauce or apple-cranberry sauce, 1 cup cranberries, 1 small pear, 1 tangerine.

5. Legumes: Lentils, black beans, kidney beans and chickpeas.

6. Eliminate: processed foods, sugars (even natural ones!), grains, and vegetables oils.

7. For Digestion: 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar
 before meals.

8. Filtered water: 8 glasses a day
with or between meals. Add lemon to your water in the morning.

9. For the Liver: 2 cups of nettle tea daily
with breakfast and dinner.

10. Take an adrenal support supplement! See Your Naturopath for more details.
