A Holiday from our Holiday....

Here's how a holiday should look:

Relaxing, Sleeping on the Beach, Smiling, Together-ness.

Here's how our Holidays went:

Fun in constant motion: moving, managing, moving, managing, moving managing.....drop.

We did a lot of travelling this summer. A lot. It was awesome. We were able to squeeze every last possible drop of time out of as many friends and family members as possible and yet.......

5 Provinces in as many weeks = Insanity.

We landed home, for good, mid-August having spent five weeks with our children, a joke of a sleep schedule, long days in the car/on planes, questionable diet choices....feeling less than in love with our kids.

So, I have been taking a bit of a holiday from our holiday. We called in the troops, getting as much help and support as possible while we unpack weeks worth of laundry, sweep up the sand that seems to be falling from every crook and cranny of our luggage and bodies and get our children sleeping again. Oh sleep how I've missed you!

I've also been feeling that "change of season" organization bug. A very busy fall is just around the corner and I am feeling the need to get out of post-partum survival mode and into pro-active life changing mode. I'm feeling inspired and creative and ready to go....and yet I can't find enough hours in the day to ACT on that inspiration. I find it frustrating and tiring.

Thankfully, while out west visiting one of my closest friends, I found the direction I've been needing to get "on track". She had just purchased a book called "The Every Girl's Guide to Life" by Maria Menounos. I thought, "Really? A book by an entertainment show host?". But seriously, I love this chick.

Not only do her home/work organizational system's put mine to shame BUT she does her own hair and make-up for TV appearances, renovates her home herself to save money and believes that she can save time and money in almost all areas of life by just doing things on her own, with a bit of confidence and creativity. I love it!

I zoomed through most of the book in four days and plan to add it to my shelf ASAP. In the meantime, I'm cleaning up and clearing out my work spaces to save time in my day and create space for, well, creating.....

It's well worth a read for every woman trying to balance it all!

I've also found some great, FREE, downloadable organizational tools (menus, calendars, to-do lists) which are helping me on my quest to organizational domination.

Below are some great pics of the free weekly planners and menu planners available at Design Finch.
