Every day & every night there are fun-filled events and gatherings.
Here are my favorite gifts for your favorite hosts!
Jill's Top 5 Hostess Gifts
1. A Bottle of Bubbly
It's festive and cheery and not everyone buys it for themselves. I always feel like the mood changes just a bit when a bottle of bubbly goes *POP* at a party.
You can go expensive (Veuve, anyone?) or more affordable. Prosecco is a fantastic (yummy) choice when you want to spend $20 or less. Read Billy Munnelly's blog: Doing Bubbly Without Going Broke. Love him.
2. A Holiday Plant
My two current favs are white poinsettias and red amaryllis.
The December Issue of Home and Garden's Christmas Ideas has a whole article on different, beautiful ways to pot and display amaryllis.
3. Homemade Laundry Soap
I made this last year as gifts for many people. It is always well received, fun to make and cost-effective. I make up 5-6 mason jars of this early in the season and then keep it on hand for grab and go situations. What we don't give out, we use!

4. An Ice Lantern
I bought this $15 mold from Lee Valley Tools when we were ordering some new hardware. A friend had gifted me one of these lanterns last year and it was one of my favorite most unique gifts....and it's just water.

You freeze the water in the mold, jiggle it out of the mold, get it to the party in a cooler and then your hostess can put a candle in it and leave it on his/her porch for the rest of the season (or display on a table for just a few hours!). They are so beautiful. I love the look of several of these on the stairs leading up to the front door!

5. A Homemade Ornament
Or a bought ornament, doesn't matter. Last weekend I recieved an ornament from a guest at our cookie party. It was so thoughtful and sweet. Every year we try to make a new and unusual ornament. This year we made these copper tree ornaments for our friends, family and party hosts!
