Holiday Gift Ideas: Advent Calendars.

It's December and the anticipation is rising! 23 days until the Big Guy arrives! Yay!

That is the best part about the holidays isn't it?
The excitement, the anticipation....

I decided that for the little ones in my life (nieces and nephews), I would try to package up that "butterfly feeling" this year.

I wanted my gift to help them enjoy every minute of this special time of year, so I made them Advent Calendars!

The Idea?
1/3 Activities
like taking a walk around the neighbourhood to see the lights, or donating to a food bank, or exchanging holiday recipes with a friend

1/3 Prizes
like little homemade gnomes, or holiday pencils, or personalized magnets

1/3 Chocolates
of course there has to be chocolate!

I can't give away all of my advent ideas just yet, but here are a few "advent calendar activities" to choose from!
  • Go Ice Skating
  • Read 'Twas the Night Before Christmas
  • Watch It's a Wonderful Life
  • Make Christmas Cookies for friends.
  • Carry mistletoe around and make everyone kiss under it.
  • Sign up to purchase gifts for a needy child
  • Go to The Nutcracker
  • Sip Hot Chocolate and Marshmallows by the fire
  • Put up a wreath
  • Leave out treats for the birds
  • Make a Gingerbread house
  • Make dried orange ornaments
  • Tell stories of childhood Christmas' around the fire
  • Make spiced cider.

Also, a few other ideas for advent calendars.
