Adventures at Home...

Our holidays away really kicked our ass. After weeks away, we've been pretty tired and grumpy.

That said, there are still a few scrumptious weeks of heat and sun mixed with a perfect cool breeze to enjoy...and we can't just sit around here all day, can we?

So, despite my desperation to get home and just stay put, we've started adventuring again....just a little closer to home is all!

A few weeks ago we headed over to Wolfe Island, a small island in lake Ontario, just a short ferry ride from downtown Kingston.

I'm ashamed to admit I'd never been there before! But isn't that always the way? How many of us live in amazing villages/towns/cities with fantastic sights and activities we constantly overlook? We plan to go but never do.......

We had the most amazing afternoon on Wolfe Island: a beautiful ferry ride, lunch & drinks at a waterfront eatery, ice cream cones served up in a tiny diner, corner stores and that laid-back island *feel* most people pay big bucks to enjoy. All right there waiting for us, just outside our front door.

Since then we've been Kingston-obsessed and rightfully so. We've even extended bedtimes (our kids don't sleep anyway?! lol.) just so we can soak up the sights. This is such a beautiful place to live....we really are so, so fortunate.
