Arts and Crafts.

Last Friday night my friend, E, organized our first bi-monthly Craft (& Wine!) night. It was so nice to have a room full of gals to chat with while I picked away at a silly little craft project I'd been meaning to finish for months....

EAT or tea or tae or ate.....

We needed some geometric, simple art for the kitchen. We have a range hood on one wall with no upper cabinetry. No room for shelves or anything busy or heavy on either side of it, but too bare to be left alone. On one side, I hung a retro clock and then I was left with the other side. What to do? What to do?

I was watching Cougar Town one evening (yes, I watch Cougar Town...it's hilarious and they drink more wine than I do, which makes me feel good about myself.) and I saw a huge, colorful EAT sign on the wall. Loved it!

There were these large, colorful letters at Urban Outfitters that I had been loving for about two years and figured they'd be perfect. I'd just go down and pick up the letters, quick, quick and get them on the wall.

But, of course, when I went to grab them they were gone. I searched high and low, but there was nothing similar that would work. So, I decided to make them.

Introducing: Modge Podged Collage Letters
Really easy to make, and a great way to re-use old magazines.

I started with some inexpensive MDF letters and then, working only with a semi-gloss Modge Podge, I began to glue and layer pieces of color magazine pages. I finished each letter with an extra coat (or two) of Modge Podge to make sure everything was sealed. I think it cost less than $10. Pretty great.

Here are some other neat letter projects I pulled from Pinterest!

Tomorrow is my birthday, so I'll be on blog vaca. Hope to see everyone at Birth Fest this weekend!
