Is there anything more lovely than a beautifully set table? Well, probably....but we've been having a tough week with our 2 1/2 year old, so my perspective may be somewhat skewed. She's been acting out (and in and up and down and every which way...) and this special Friday night dinner seemed to be the one reprieve in a very long week.
Calm, peaceful, engaging, quality family time.

Friday afternoon at the grocery store we found the sweetest yellow flowers and from there our dinner took on a lemony yellow theme. We made lemony pasta with peas, pulled out the yellow flowery napkins, and turned some paper cut-out flowers into place markers. Then, we popped a bottle of bubbly and sat around the table until long after the sun had set. It was a perfect spring evening, exactly what we were all needing!
Details, details.....and pictures, of course!
These little finger puppets were used as place markers....which turned out to be the perfect toddler distractors in the last moments before dinner hit the table.
Our favorite spring lemon pasta. I blogged about it last spring and you can get the recipe here. The one addition? Some preserved lemons from my friend Emmy over at Inner Bliss blog. They are sour and salty and totally amazing!
J and I decided to try Pelee Island's newest Prosecco. It was crisp and fruity and the label is super adorable which, I think, is reason enough to try a wine:)

A little bit of success. Hooray for us!

But, as Jamie reminded me last night, "we're in this for the long haul".
So, I guess we'll have time to catch up...
Adorable! I love that you took time to set the table, make everything beautiful and really enjoy everyone's company. of course, I am truly flattered my lemons made it not only to your table but to your blog!! Thanks doll! And I will try that prosecco - I'm with you, if it's got a cute lable, I'm trying it! xx
