Salvaging What We Can.......

Question: What's harder than ripping an entire house apart?

Answer: Trying to rip the house apart while saving all of the useful bits and pieces for re-use.

Jamie really is the star here...he's managed to strip this place down to the bones (quickly) while saving all of the special (and not so special, but re-usable) pieces along the way.

The old, hideous kitchen cabinets are presently in the garage, waiting to become a work bench & storage, a tub and vanity going to Habitat for Humanity, and a basement full of old doors and trim work, ready to be re-vamped and re-installed. We have a pile of rusty grates that need to be saved (they're too gorgeous to get rid of!) and a found brick wall that is going to be re-exposed and cleaned up.

Unfortunately, the floors aren't going to make it. Too much water damage and staining. Such a shame! Thankfully, a friend of a friend, has hooked us up with some reclaimed barn board that we are presently having kiln dried and planed...soon to be "at some point in time will be" our new floors!

There are still so many details to iron out, and as many set backs as there are steps forward, but we're feeling good!

We got some extra sleep last night (thank you time change) and we're ready for another week:)

Happy Monday!
