The Biggest Project of the Season....

I love Christmas. In a crazy sort of filled-with-the-spirit-of-the- holidays-all-year-round kind of way. I also love to make Christmas presents as often as I can. Every year, as the ideas become more elaborate, I have to start my “crafting” a bit earlier. Christmas of 2010 will take the cake……I have been working (and re-working) away since last fall! [more about the projects later...] I had no idea that we would be taking on the biggest project of the season year, two short months ago. We bought a tiny fixer upper with plans to make it a big family home for our growing brood. A 1950's bungalow will in a few (??) months become a 2 1/2 storey family home with an urban organic (yippie) feel....we hope. We also hope that we have somewhere to live before this baby comes.....Did I mention it snowed today??

Demo started this weekend and things couldn't feel better. The plans still aren't finished, we're waiting on about a million details and we're two weeks behind schedule already, but we are in love with this house and the home it will become.

Once a week I hope to post the progress on our reno, as well as some of the fun DIY projects we do along the way. I hope this will be a space I can feel positive about what we're doing, despite the stress and frustrations and obstacles. We are, of course, trying to be as eco-friendly as we can (afford) and I will share tips and tricks as we figure things out.

My other plans for November? Well, on Mondays I'll be posting reno updates. On Fridays, I plan to post a favorite a holiday craft/gift idea for those of you who like to make the holidays a little more homegrown! Then, somewhere in between, we can talk food and health and all that other good stuff.

Stay tuned!
