Here's the recipe for my homemade baby wipes. You could just use plain old water, but these smell so nice and help keep skin rashes at bay. Adapt as you like:
Jill's Homemade Baby Wipes
A big jar of water
A big glug of Dr. Bronner's Unscented Liquid Castille Soap (though I pictured the peppermint bar!)
A Splash of Olive Oil
A Splash of Calendula Oil or Vitamin E Oil
A few drops of Lavender Essential Oil and Tea Tree Oil
I mixed it up in a big jar, throw in some baby facecloths and use them for bums. If the wipes get really dirty (let's say, after cleaning a poo or after a few pee clean-ups) I chuck them in another jar filled with water a bit of Borax. Then, when I wash my cloth diapers, I just throw the wipes in too!
The next step is to find my cloth diapers....in a bin somewhere. Until then, the wipes are getting washed with towels and I'm making due with disposables....one step at a time, I say.
It feels good to be making time for the things that are really important to me and my family. Something as simple as re-usable wipes helps us save money, reduce waste and know we're putting the best possible ingredients on little Pippa's skin.

Hi Jill,
ReplyDeleteWhere do you buy your Dr. Bonner's? I've been making homemade wipes with paper towels, but using baby washcloths is a great idea for cutting down waste.

Lots of love and light on her life!
I pick it up at the local health food store...I love it for everything!
