Keep Calm and Have Lunch.

The blog is taking another hit. BAM!
Friday night, we bought a new house. POW!
It needs some work a complete overhaul. KABLOOEY!

It's the home we've been waiting for and yet, with busy lives and a baby on the way we can't believe it's happening now. Isn't that always the way??

So we've been staging our home all weekend for sale and now we're moving out, because a museum ain't no place for a toddler...and I'm going out of my mind trying to keep things tidy.

On top of it all, this just so happens to be THE busiest week of the year. Not just in our house, but in many, because it's back to school time!!!

Nothing strikes fear into the heart of a mother than the thought of 10 looong months of coming up with school lunch ideas.

My mother was particularly averse to packing lunches. One of the oldest of thirteen children, the chore of making 13 lunches often fell on her shoulders and, after a childhood of thousands of lunches made, she could never muster any enthusiasm for our lunches. While other kids opened bags with heart-felt love notes and homemade dinosaur shaped sandwiches, I often found a soggy butter and jam sandwich sqashed into the corner of a ripped bag (one slice of bread and one "end piece", no less!) and a few stale cookies. Bleh. We complained non-stop about our pathetic lunches and nothing ever changed. For all of the wonderful homemade meals and snacks she did make, my mum had no passion for bagged lunches. We felt lucky to get a one of those revolting "Lunchable" thingys. Imagine......

After a conversation with a friend last week, about the rise in pre-packaged, processed, overly sugared and salted foods kids are being fed at lunch, and knowing how challenging lunches can be, I thought I'd post a link to a myriad of healthy, happy lunch ideas.

This is a link to my friend {so I like to imagine, lol}, Gwenyth Paltrow's blog: GOOP. She has compiled an amazing list of ideas from foodies and moms alike! Click Here.

Enjoy!
And remember, Keep Calm....and have lunch:)

Happy Back to Schooling!

  1. Congratulations on your new home. I am very happy for you and your family. And I need to check out the lunch ideas as I just made homemade granola bars from which Foster picked out the dried fruit and chocolate - all I can do is try, right. ha ha
