The Beach. This summer the heat has really been killin' me. I typically spend the summer months shunning air conditioning, languishing in the hot sun and humidity. Unfortunately, the heat has not mixed well with the nausea and illness of my first trimester and I've spent the past two months avoiding the sun at all costs......but, last week marked the TSN turning point in my pregnancy! With great friends in tow, we headed to Sandbanks in Prince Edward County, for a day at the beach. It was awesome! I loved every minute: from the winding water-side drive, to the ferry, to the sand castles and seashell collecting, to the moment I fell into bed....exhausted and sun soaked.

Thrift store/flea market finds...and a few neighbourly donations. Is there anything better? Now all we need is a bigger house.....

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. This book keeps breaking my heart but I can't put it down. A story about survivors of September 11th and those they lost.

A few quotes from the book:
"I'm sorry for my inability to let unimportant things go, for my inability to hold on to the important things."
"Why didn't I learn to treat everything like it was the last time. My greatest regret was how much I believed in the future."
"I regret that it takes a life to learn how to live."
— Jonathan Safran Foer
A Meal with my Family. Uncle Ivan is in town! We just love him. He's a slightly younger, equally charismatic version of my epic grandfather. He could talk all night and we would listen. Full of stories and jokes, I'm sad to say that he will be leaving us for Afghanistan in a few short weeks. Until then, he is safe and sound and close by. For that, we are all grateful.

The anticipation of a new baby. Not mine! It's too soon to think about that.....my sister, A, is due to have her first babe, momentarily. We're on pins and needles. My parents are headed to PEI and we are close to the phone. Waiting and waiting and waiting...like Christmas is coming!
Getting back to Exercise! Yes, I know it's pathetic but I love to exercise. As per the hot sun, my first trimester brought with it an extreme aversion to movement...of any sort. But baby, I'm back and it feels soooo good. I am already feeling stronger and more energetic. For those who are into this kinda thing, I'm using workouts from Jillian Michael's new book: Making the Cut. It's an amazing book my sister, C, recommended. I do four bootcamp style workouts a week. 45-60 minutes each. That's it!

Prepping for School. It sounds like a vapid chore but I love love love getting my classes prepped for the fall. One course only requires a few tweaks, the other, a complete overhaul. Either way I love the challenge of figuring out how to best put material together for my students. It's like a large jigsaw puzzle I'm putting together....and quite often I don't have all the pieces! I'll be picking away at this all weekend and next, and I'm really excited about it:)
Here's hoping you find 7 things that make your heart *skip* this weekend!
How utterly amazing....
