When I was 21, I lost one of my grandmothers. It was an incredibly difficult time for me and I have worked pretty darn hard to deal with her death. For the most part, I feel like I have processed the loss and can, finally (!), talk about her without tears.
But, this morning, knowing what my dear friend is going through, all of the tough stuff is rearing it's ugly head.
Getting older doesn’t make it any easier. Neither does having a family or a busy life or lots of friends. There are just some people you can’t replace.
So, today, I would like to pay tribute to her.
Strong, smart, stubborn, silly and completely irreplaceable.
Winnifred Anne Murphy - I miss you. I wish you were here.
I plan to spend the day with my little Winnie, celebrating the late Winnie. Hanging out the washing, running errands, cooking a big dinner and waiting for little Winn’s grandparents to arrive from out east…. hoping that the simple, familiar rhythm and rituals of our everyday will remind me to be grateful that I have a home to care for, a family to spend time with and whole bunch of wonderful memories.
Have an amazing weekend!
